Do Roman Catholics Believe in Ghosts?

"Some visions of ghosts could actually be souls in purgatory that are seeking prayers. We must never forget to pray for our brothers and sisters in purgatory. We should offer our mass to them every time we attend." [source]

When in Rome, make sure to visit the Museum of the Souls of Purgatory. "Located in a small room next to a church, this eerie museum displays objects and photos of objects said to show traces of apparitions who reside in Purgatory."

Yeah; this reminded me of - 3rd movie of the Lord of the Rings trilogy -

- the Roman Catholicism of J. R. R. Toiken comes out especially in the 3rd movie of Lord of the Rings (if it is an accurate from the book - I have not read the books)

The ghosts/souls of that vast army did good works by fighting and to help the good guys defeat Sauron's army.

The Ghosts of Purgatory - seems compatible with that theology.

I like those movies - entertaining.

Ken, interesting association. I read those books as a teenager, so I don't recall the specifics. And I don't recall the section of the movie you've mentioned.

Aragon summons the army of the dead in the cave - in a later scene they help defeat the orcs. etc. and they gain release from their bondage because of their "good works" - it seems like an allusion to a connection of purgatory and ghosts .

the scene where the ghost army comes back later and helps them and they regain their honor by their fighting the bad guys.

He never says "purgatory", but it seems to be an allusion to it; along with the connection you made with ghosts.

later in this scene, the ghost leader says, "we fulfilled our oath" - Aragon says, "I hold your oath fulfilled, go in peace." and they go with a look of relief on their faces.

"peace" after fulfilling satis passio ?
