VATICAN CITY, JUNE 26, 2011 (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI says the Eucharist is the antidote to the individualism in which the West is immersed and which is spreading throughout the globe.
"The Eucharist is like the beating heart that gives life to the whole mystical body of the Church: a social organism entirely founded on the spiritual but concrete link with Christ," the Pope said today before reciting the midday Angelus with those gathered in St. Peter's Square.
"Without the Eucharist the Church simply would not exist," he affirmed.

Amen, amen!
"The Eucharist is 'the source and summit of the Christian life.' 'The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.' (CCC 1324)
"St. Francis of Assisi, whose power over irrational creatures almost carries us back to the days of man's original innocence, was followed by a sheep wherever he went. This sheep went even into the church and during the time of Mass would keep very quiet until the Consecration, when it would kneel down as if to adore its Creator."
Cures animals who won't kneel, too.
And to Lutherans who dont' pay the Host the proper respect...BEWARE!!!
"In the year 1563, a Lutheran nobleman in the city of Erford ridiculed the Blessed Sacrament as it was carried in procession by the Rev. Father Th. Baumeier. "Behold," said he, "what a ridiculous thing that old man is carrying!" No sooner had he uttered these words than he fell speechless to the ground. Dr. J. Hebenstreit was instantly called in, but pronounced him beyond recovery. A few days after, the nobleman was a corpse. (William of Gent).

And on that note, Their was a Eucharist Flash Mob recently:

The Reggae
This is by far my most favorite video clip to date!
"Take and eat, this is my body" Jesus, our Lord, Almighty, Omnipotent, Omnipresent... testament on the night on which he was betrayed.
Listen to him.
"Take and eat." (not take out and adore the element)
"This is my body." (not signifies it, not as if "real" but not really "real" but believe as if real...)
Did you see Pastor Fisk's new video?

The Eucharist is no mere element. What your senses tell you are just bread and wine are, through Christ's own words and command, His very body blood soul and divinity: kneel before Him now.
Metaphor:
John 6:54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood(CC) has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
Reality
John 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Indeed the Eucharist is no mere element, as you say,--when eaten and drunk as instituted according to God's command. It is to be consumed because it is God's gift to the individual and the community. That's why it is a feast and uses consumable items.
To adore the item itself and by itself... it is easy to see how the Reformed see idolatry in this. In any case we have no command for this.
Eating and drinking is always to be done with faith in the Son of God, who feeds you here with himself and meets you there. It all goes together, no need to pick apart metaphors and "reality". There is no reason to create a "metaphor". It is only tampering with what Jesus said.
