Here a blog, there a blog, everywhere a blog blog...

Here's an interesting blog article: Seven Reasons Why Blogs Fail. This only applies I guess to those of you looking to succeed with your blogging endeavours.

My own method is as follows: I write what I want, when I want, based on those subjects that I like. In other words: pure selfishness. This method may not work for you.

Mr. Swan,

Why do you brag about being selfish? You've done this on more than one occasion and you seem to do it with glee. Unless, perhaps I am misreading you, which is possible in cyberspace. :)

So, ya got me scratchin' my head. Should Christians boast about being selfish? Isn't this going against our very calling to imitate Christ in our daily walk? As the Holy Scriptures say:

"So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

"And whatever yo do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

"Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourself."

Again, I'm not saying that Christians will not act selfishly, as we are still in the body and must ask for His forgiveness regularly. Rather, I don't think selfishness is something we should wear on our sleeves as though it were a badge badge of honor.

We should seek to imitate our Lord Jesus in all that we do, and be saddened when we grieve the Holy Spirit by committing sin that grieves Him so.

I don't consider it bragging, but rather honesty. I would speculate people write and do blogs most of the time for themselves, but try to pass it off as something else: some noble effort to benefit others. Pastor McCain's recent blog entry simply reminded me of this ugly truth. My mentioning it is simply to pop the balloon of our own self-importance.

My comments were also provoked by a movie I watched half of last night: Julie and Julia (or "Julia and Julie". I can't recall which name goes first). The star of the movie tries to gain importance and signifcance by...blogging. I had to chuckle a bit at the whole phenomenon of blogging, as well as myself.

I post blog articles because I like doing it. I went further into this here:
