For those of you who engage Roman Catholics, I want to recommend one of my favorite sources in regard to refuting Roman Catholic apologetics. The Catholic Champion blog continually provides helpful material demonstrating Roman Catholic epistemology, particularly the fact that despite having an infallible magisterium, each Roman Catholic serves as his or her own private interpreter of Romanism. That is the stake in the heart of Romanism. One need not go beyond this point.
I'd like to have the mastermind behind the Catholic Champion as part of my blogging team, but his tone of writing isn't up to my standards. Ah well.
Make sure to bookmark the Catholic Champion.
Addendum
The Catholic Champion keeps on giving:
"For the Catholic, their faith resides in the living God who speaks through those whom He sent, through His one and only Church. This one and only Church of course includes the Sacred Scriptures, which folks like you Mr. Swan have sought to remove from the bosom of Christ and His Church."
Translation: The "one and only Church" as interpreted by.... the Catholic Champion. Now why is the Catholic Champion right, and someone like Mark Shea wrong?
Great sense of irony. Semper reformanda!

ReplyDeleteGreat! You just gave a blueprint for a new image to be venerated. Suffering at the hands of Beggars All.

ReplyDeleteIf there is such a button, I don't have it enabled. There are a few blogger features I'll probably never add- like "followers of this blog."
Kick hornets nest. Check.
ReplyDeleteHornet angry (yet not sinning). Check.

Hornet buzzes louder in futility. Check.
Well done you reformed tweeker of papist noses.

While this blog entry did indeed have a sense of irony, the Catholic Champion blog does provide helpful updates on the controversies in Romanism and also between Rome's self-proclaimed interpreters. I would have probably not caught Mark Shea's recent interpretation of Genesis 38.

ReplyDeleteHi James,
I wasn't asking you to add features. I was simply voicing my approval -in a techno-geeky sorta way.
Peace.
James,
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are really getting on the nerves of the Catholic Champion. He is now alleging that your heart still regards Rome as the true church but your mind is rationalising and keeping you away. HE IS BADLY AND SADLY MISTAKEN! Nothing is further from the truth. Even with a gun to your head, I believe you will have nothing to do with Rome. The Romanists are basically theologians of glory.

ReplyDeleteI saw a derogatory comment over there in a comment box- no big deal. Worse things have been said in the past by Rome's zealous defenders.
What's interesting about "He is now alleging that your heart still regards Rome as the true church" is that if this were the case, it would qualify me in some Roman paradigms a spot in Hell. You see, by knowing that Rome is the true church and rejecting it sends one of to perdition. That's why some Romanists can claim atheists will be in heaven, because they didn't know Rome was the true church.
I've never been Roman Catholic, and I think I've been to only 3 or 4 Roman Catholic services (weddings, funerals, etc.). I certainly have never considered Rome the true church.
James Swan, “I've never been Roman Catholic, and I think I've been to only 3 or 4 Roman Catholic services (weddings, funerals, etc.). I certainly have never considered Rome the true church.”
ReplyDeleteJames!
If you are ever coming through Hagerstown, MD, let’s go to Mass together at St. Mary’s.
With love in Christ,
