I found my old camcorder and figured out how to hook it up to my computer. YouTube is stereo, but the camcorder is mono, so the sound will be on one channel till I track down the adapter.
Phil Keaggy: The Maker of the Universe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27GUZsrhxJ8&feature=related
The Maker of the universe, As Man for man was made a curse. The claims of Law which He had made, Unto the uttermost He paid. His holy fingers made the bough, Which grew the thorns that crowned His brow. The nails that pierced His hands were mined In secret places He designed.
He made the forest whence there sprung The tree on which His body hung. He died upon a cross of wood, Yet made the hill on which it stood. The sky that darkened o'er His head, By Him above the earth was spread. The sun that hid from Him it's face By His decree was poised in space.
The spear which spilled His precious blood Was tempered in the fires of God. The grave in which His form was laid Was hewn in rocks His hands had made.
The throne on which He now appears Was His for everlasting years. But a new glory crowns His brow And every knee to Him shall bow.
I've seen Keaggy a number of times. I first saw him in the early 80's, sometime around the Flip Side or Town to Town album.
I recently saw him, maybe a year or two ago. He was joined on stage by Peter Gabriel's bassist, Tony Levin, and also Jerry Morrata (Gabriel as well). The footage of the concert is on Youtube.
Thanks for posting the lyrics of PK. I've never seen him in concert.
I have an affinity for most anything Michael Card. I saw him in concert and was pleasntly surprised at how personal he was. Here is one of my favorites, "Spirit of the Age."
I thought that I heard crying coming through my door. Was it Rachel weeping for her sons who were no more? Could it have been the babies crying for themselves, Never understanding that they died for someone else?
The voices heard of weeping and of wailing, History speaks of it on every page. Of innocent and helpless little babies, Offerings to the spirit of the age
No way of understanding this sad and painful sign, Whenever Satan rears his head there comes a tragic time. If he could crush the cradle, then that would stop the cross, He knew that once the Light was born his every hope was lost.
Now every age has heard it, this voice that speaks from hell, "Sacrifice your children and for you it will be well." The subtle serpent's lying, his dark and ruthless rage, Behold it is revealed to be the spirit of the age.
Soon all the ones who seemed to die for nothing, Will stand beside the Ancient of Days. With joy we'll see the Infant from the manger, Come and crush the spirit of the age.
Rho: No, a Reformed Baptist. Why, did I say "baptismal regeneration" or "Word and sacrament" or something? ;-)
Pinoy: I see. I'm also a Reformed Baptist, but I don't focus with stuffs about Luther and his theology... It's just that I have mistakenly thought of you as a Lutheran because it seems to me that you're a big fan of Luther based on the theme of your BLog.
I can't help it. Luther, cats, and guitars are all I think about. But mostly Luther. And I have this insatiable desire to defend Luther. There are times when I'm tempted to write a post tentatively proposing that we venerate him as the 4th member of, not the Trinity, but the Quadernity.
Mmm, nah, I don't think shutting the blog down would be sufficient for me to get a life. Here's a perfect example: I could go to see Phil Keaggy live pretty soon, a mere 1-hour drive away, but it's a weeknight and my 8 pm bedtime wouldn't allow me to go.
Hahaha. If Pinoy's still reading this, he's probably getting pretty mad.
Pinoy - James Swan is the founder and main blogger 'round these here parts. He's the Luther guy; I don't know a whole lot about the man. James is often asked if he's Lutheran; he's a baby-sprinklin' Calvinist aka a Presbyterian, who goes to a Reformed Church of North America. He just likes studying Luther, and is good at it.
I'm the opening act that you throw beer at.
In short, we were just joking around about the confusion. No offense intended.
Hey, I dig the guitars in the background, but are you a lefty or righty? The pickguard on the Gibson (is that an L5? L4?) looks like it's made for a lefty and the other for a righty.

Good eye. Both are right handed guitars.
The high quality Martin copy (my first guitar, I've had since at least 1981) is actually strung left-handed, though I did string it right handed once or twice for fun. I can play a right-handed guitar held as a left handed person, but not nearly as well as a lefty strung guitar.
The other guitar, A 1950's Gibson L-4 was converted into a left handed guitar. The pick guard is original, and was flipped over and resanded to appear lefty.
Cool guitars, James!
ReplyDeleteDo you like Phil Keaggy's music?
I tried the vlog thing but my face kept cracking the camera lens. From 10 feet away. After 3 I gave up.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's a cat man!

ReplyDeleteCan someone translate this for me?
Well Mr. Swan, I spose you're not such a bad fella afterall. You like cats!
ReplyDeleteI love cats. We own three and they are a delight to my heart. I would own 10 if my husband would allow it. :)
Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the death of our precious Scruffy, whom we had the privelege of caring for and tending to for 11 1/2 years.
CATS RULE!

Okay, I'm not a complete square, I do know what "rocks" means. No reason to be insulting.
:)

Phil Keaggy’s famous song, “Time”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy8ZS8bxAuU&feature=related
When the LORD stops him,
That’ll be it
Too late for apologies
Too late to forgive your brother
Too late to get on your knees
When the LORD stops him
To late to help the needy
And worst of all
You must face eternity
His name is Time, and he’s coming to an end !
His name is Time, where will you be my friend?

Keaggy's going to be at the Sellersville Theater February 25. Easy access to anyone living in the Philly area.
ReplyDeleteI'm not too far from Philly, but the show is on a Thursday night. If it were a saturday, i'd probably go.
ReplyDeletePinoy,
ReplyDeleteNo, a Reformed Baptist.

Yeah, Rho... what's with all those Luther posts you write?
ReplyDeleteI get a little tired of "luther this" or "Luther that".
Please, get a hande on a few more subjects.
I can't help it. Luther, cats, and guitars are all I think about. But mostly Luther.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have this insatiable desire to defend Luther. There are times when I'm tempted to write a post tentatively proposing that we venerate him as the 4th member of, not the Trinity, but the Quadernity.
Please pray for me. I could use it.
Maybe try reading the Bible every so often.
ReplyDeleteLook, get off my back or I'm gonna close this blog down!
ReplyDeleteYeah well, your family would probably like it if you shut the blog down. Maybe you'd actually get a life.
ReplyDeleteMmm, nah, I don't think shutting the blog down would be sufficient for me to get a life. Here's a perfect example: I could go to see Phil Keaggy live pretty soon, a mere 1-hour drive away, but it's a weeknight and my 8 pm bedtime wouldn't allow me to go.
ReplyDeleteYeah, well Christian Rock concerts appeal more to Baptists, not pseudo-Lutherans.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. If Pinoy's still reading this, he's probably getting pretty mad.

OMG, these Vlogs are like a full moon here.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with you guys is your rabid anti-Keaggyism.
ReplyDelete"Oh, I can't go out on a school night to see Phil Keaggy, I'm too old now and I need my beauty sleep, wah wah wah!"
I pray that you will abandon your irrational fear of Keaggy and embrace the Sound of Heaven.

Darlene,
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. I like Michael Card's UnVeiled Hope (on the book of Revelation) - I think it was well done.
