Is Mr. Shea a convert? From what little I read from the Sungenis/Shea interaction, it sounds to me like he has a dispensational approach to the covenants which has carried over into his Catholicism.
That is a great point. It is troubling that some of the converts or reverts to RCism quite often try to sound Evangelical. It seems they are trying to appeal to their former Evangelical friends by making Rome's Gospel sound just like the Protestants. It is just a denominational change in their minds. Rome is the mother and true church. They don't really seem to know the real differences between the two.
I wonder if it isn't more subtle than that. Perhaps it's more unconscious than any of us, including them, realises. After all, I carried enough baggage of my own into Reformed theology from my days as an Evangelical (Arminian) Protestant some 16 years ago.
It's often not easy to consciously shake some of the old (intellectual) habits.
No, *I'm* a liar. I intend war on Holy Church.
