I grew up hearing about it in my home. However good intentioned it is, I am concerned about our distinctives as biblical Christians.

The guardian article "was amended on 14 March 2013. It wrongly described Bergoglio as a champion of liberation theology."

It now says,

"A champion of those who rejected liberation theology."

2013: Of U.S. Catholics who attend Mass weekly, 40% (and 54% of all U.S. Catholics) would like to see the new pope change to more liberal teachings, versus 22% who want more conservative teachings;
63% favor letting priests get married, versus 30% opposed; 55% (and 66% of all U.S. Catholics) favor female priests versus 39% opposed;
63% favor letting Catholic priests get married versus 30% who oppose it; 70% believe the pope should be against legalized abortion, versus 24% for it;
69% (and 79% of all U.S. Catholics) favor the use of artificial methods of birth control, versus 24% opposed; 82% say the pope should be for the use of condoms to prevent the spread of H.I.V. and other diseases, with 14% being or against;
67% believe the pope be for the death penalty versus 25% opposed; 45% (and 40% of all U.S. Catholics) believe the pope is infallible when he teaches on matters of morality and faith, with an equal 45% disagreeing;
on difficult moral questions, 22% say they are are more likely to follow the teachings of the Pope, while 66% (and 78% of all U.S. Catholics) say their conscience;
74% believe it iis possible to disagree with the pope on issues like birth control, abortion or divorce and still be a good Catholic;
