For Lent I'm "giving up" giving up things...

For Lent we focus on the things Jesus said and did. If fasting helps you do that, do it.

This week in the lectionary: the tempting of Christ in the wilderness by the devil. Fascinating story. Much to learn.

While you’re giving up giving up things, you might find yourself with some extra time to take on some more Matt Maher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWKRhk-yYI0.

:)

With love in Christ,

“The Aerians are named after a certain Aerius. He was a priest, but he is said to have been deeply hurt, because he could not be ordained a bishop. He fell into the Arian heresy and also added some teachings of his own. He said that the sacrifice ought not to be offered for the dead and that the solemnly prescribed fasts should not be observed, but that each one should fast as he wishes so that he does not seem to be under the law. He also said that a priest should not be distinguished from a bishop in any respect” (Saint Augustine, The Heresies, 53—translated by Roland Teske in Arianism and Other Heresies, pg. 47).
