Tyler McNabb's deleted post combox

The owner of the aforementioned bowling alley may have been displeased at the sight of the unwelcome interloper showing up all the regular club players. For whatever reason, he has decided to pack his ball and pins and close his doors.

Having learned a lesson from the recent Stellman post-then-remove incident, I had the presence of mind to save the page yesterday before it was taken down, so all of my comments and interactions with the club players remain intact.
I have reproduced them here sans the original article, which, out of respect for Mr. McNabb's wishes and recognition that it didn't have much of any substance to it, I will leave unpublished.

(See also TurretinFan's comment on the combox.)

**UPDATE: Mr. McNabb has apparently deleted his blog entirely. May the Lord Jesus be pleased to open his eyes to the truth.

Well now, this is an interesting twist.

2 convert posts, 2 deletions.

Perhaps one of them had a dream, confirmed by one of their wives, instructing them to remove the recent conversion tales.

One dream instructing them to depart from the truth, and another telling them to stop talking about it?

I can see that...

Gee that was quick.

Drat! Just when my post appeared to be accepted; he deleted his entire blog. I hope he will investigate all the information; it seems he really did not study the issues very deeply; and he lacks being discipled in a local church member in a Biblical church.

As I wrote before, I have met some pretty unstable souls who have issues with pride and anger that get a hold of the "Way of the Master" Evangelism (nothing wrong with it in itself, when applied in a non-legalistic way) and do street preaching, and some of them get really depressed and angry at other Christians and pastors who are not doing street preaching the way they do all the time. Some have started their own little house churches, etc. Some are mixing heretical and dangerous ideas in with the good. Some are depressed and go into hiding when the realities of pastoral ministries hits them hard.

typo

should have been:

and he lacks being discipled in a local church as a regular member in a Biblical church.

He was put in leadership too soon.

Rhology, thanks for your response to my post on the aforementioned site.

You said the New Testament clearly teaches that every person is responsible for correctly handling God’s revelation of Himself. The question is, how do you know you are correctly interpreting Scripture? Also, please explain how this fits in with the fact that heretics have always used Sacred Scripture to argue their teachings. Take for example the Arian heresy.

Arianism taught against the doctrine of the Holy Trinity by using the Gospel of John which quotes Jesus saying: “I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I." (John 14:28)

Arianism was solemnly condemned by the Catholic Church in AD 325 at the First Council of Nicaea. Realize that defining doctrines using Scripture alone, apart from Sacred Tradition and legitimate Church authority, simply leads to error, since anyone can rationalize any doctrine they want using the Scriptures.

The Catholic Church has always taught through both Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture--BOTH--not just one or the other. We see in Acts 15 how the Church has authority to define what is doctrine and what is not. It's not up to individuals. Take for example the heated argument Paul had with the Circumcisers, which led to the Council of Jerusalem.

As for Purgatory, and all the other subjects you enumerate, these can be backed up by both Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture. For instance your first topic. Jesus Christ mentions Purgatory a number of times. Jesus explained:

"Then the master called the servant in. 'You wicked servant,' he said, 'I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn't you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?' In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be tortured, UNTIL HE SHOULD PAY BACK all he owed. "THIS IS HOW MY HEAVENLY FATHER WILL TREAT EACH OF YOU unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart." --Matt. 18:32-35

Jesus warns:

"Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. Truly I tell you, you will not get out UNTIL YOU HAVE PAID BACK THE LAST PENNY."--Matt. 5:25

The idea of Purgatory is also in the Old Testament. One example of this is 2 Maccabees. Unfortunately for Protestants, your Bible is missing 7 books of the Old Testament because Protestants have put their faith in the teachings of a man named Martin Luther, who took it upon himself to dismiss 7 of the Old Testament books and to denigrate the Epistle of James and the Book of Revelation.

As for all your other objections, both Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture support Catholic teaching. i.e., apostolic succession, we have an example of this with Matthias replacing Judas. As for Papal infallibility, Cephas was a sinner yet he wrote inerrant Scripture; as for Transubstantiation, Christ Himself states: "Take ye and eat, THIS IS MY BODY." As for indulgences, the Church has the power to bind and to loose things in heaven and on earth. As for celibate priesthood, Christ called for it and Paul highly recommends it (The priesthood is a free choice which a man makes after 7 years of discernment). As for the perpetual virginity of Mary, she was the spouse of the Holy Spirit, and the Early Church Fathers teach that she was a perpetual virgin. As for the Immaculate Conception, if you read Genesis 3:15 God Himself promised to put enmity between the serpent and the woman who was to become the mother of the Savior.

Without Church authority and Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture can be twisted to mean anything you want. Tell me, how are you any different than Arius?
