The Best Use of Magisterial Power

ht: Steve Hays

Vatican set to control new 'catholic' Internet domain

The Vatican probably won't get around to infallibly interpreting any Bible verses for quite a long time- they have much more important things to do: "VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican is in line to control the new Internet address extension ".catholic" and decide who is allowed to use it."

Sad news though: "The Vatican does not plan to allow individual bloggers or private Catholics to use ".catholic."

Was that a fallible or an infallible decision?

I suppose the internet catholic junkies will opine??

What in the world is this world coming to but her end and none to soon!

Of course not!!! As the PCA wouldn't allow you to publish under their name. I have a bank account at Citibank and yet, I can't blog in their name as well. Besides, it looks like they will charge a lot of money just for the right to use .catholic. Too rich for my blood.

Will they have a CathoTwitter?

So that you can obtain infallible proclamations via @CathoMagist?

That'd be awesome.

I think the Pope has a Twitter account and Vatican news has a Twitter account as well.

Unfortunately, neither speak ex-cathedra but you have to think the Pope's automatically has Imprimatur and Nihil Obstat.

Rhol,

you need to copyright those ideas immediately cause you are onto something and as you know the Pope's coffers are full and he could pay plenty to ya for the rights?

Just sayin'!

Given that Protestants also consider themselves "catholic" as the early creeds (Nicea, Constantinople, Athanasian) say; it seems that it would wrong for the Vatican to try and buy/control/police that domain, rather they should try and police or own a domain of "Roman Catholic".
