In Islam, the Majority in Hell are Women

Sahih Al Bukhari: Vol. 1:28, 301

This is one of the clearest evidences of the inequality of men and women under Islam.

Mohammed said, "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers are women."

Arabic of the Hadith that Majority in Hell are women.

I can see the words, “hell” (النار) (Al-Nar); the word “most” or “majority” اکثر (ak-sar or ak-thar) ; the word “dwellers”/ “inhabitants” – اهلها ( Ahle-ha) and the word for women – النساء . (Al - Nisa) (We have these words or forms of these Arabic words in Farsi.)

The Majority of dwellers in hell are women, according to many of the Hadith traditions of Muhammad:

Hadith, Sahih Al Bukhari volume 1, book 2, number 28http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/hadith/bukhari/002.sbt.html#001.002.028

These Hadiths (Ahadith – احادیث plural in Arabic and Farsi) that say the majority of dwellers in hell are women.

Sahih Bukhari: Vol. 1:28, 301; Vol. 2:161; Vol. 7:124-126.

And “Sahih” means “correct”, “right”, “genuine” – these are some of the strongest traditions of Muhammad, the founder and prophet of Islam.

See more of this documented here, which is also where I got the Arabic of this Hadith:

How is each guy going to have 20 wives if they are all in hell?

The Orthodox agree. We know this because the devil told us. [No, this comment is not a joke].

Lvka,
Virtually every comment of yours is a joke.

Yeah, but not this one. :-)

I guess I'll say this for what it's worth. Even though I'm sure if this statement was in Christianity there would be some clever machination that would make all well with the world.

However, since we are Christians let take this opportunity to paint Islam in the worse possible light.

Now since Ken's contention is that this hadith makes men and women not equal I wonder how that could be?

By the way I'm smiling because I'm imaging myself a Christian and thinking how some clever Christian polemicist would actually use this hadith to show that Muhammed (saw) was a true messenger of God.

Especially in light of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_sex_ratio

I guess in your view the majority of those women are reformed Christians eh?

How would that follow?

Good call Rhology. The way I worded it did leave it a bit ambiguous.

What I meant is that because the majority of people on this earth are women, and continue to be when there are no cultural practices like infanticide (in India) or one child only (in China) and the fact that I am assuming that the majority of these women are not Lutheran, Presbyterian, as such it would stand to reason that they would be the majority in the hell fire according to reformed Christians as well.

Well, Grand Verbalizer,

as you can see from my previous comments on this therad, I'm not defending or inventing anything; I (we, actually) perfectly agree with Muslims on this point. :-)

Lvka thank you! That's what I'm saying.

I mean why make a mountain out of a mole hill? Let's say that there 100 people ever created... and that 50 of them go to heaven, and 50 go to hell.

Than of those 50 going to hell 26 are women and 24 are men. So there would be two more women in hell than men? So! Whats the big deal?

Another way to look at it is hyperbole. A warning to women, basically men are always knocking on the door but it's the women who have to open the door. Maybe it's just edification for women to be on guard more. Wallahu 'Alim.

Because the second part of the translation makes this very clear when Peter says 'Stand up! When he says I'm only a human being or I'm a man just like you here Peter is simply being humble. So what is so objectionable about that? If we understand that Cornelius came in and knelt down to pay homage to Peter and Peter in humility simply told him to stand up.

[...]

John was paying homage to the Angel/Messenger and in humility the response was I'm a fellow servant. In Peter's case I'm a man just like you. Basically they were not people or beings of high post.

Thank you for noticing the obvious.

With the name of God,

Lvka let us stay on the topic that Ken has laid out for us here.

If you want to address the issues of proskuneo I suggest we do it on my blog post since it seems that is unrelated to what Ken has brought to our attention.

"The Orthodox agree. We know this because the devil told us. [No, this comment is not a joke]." (Lvka)

Isn't the devil supposed to be a liar? If you believed the Bible you'd believe that every woman who gives birth is saved. 1st Timothy 2:15 "Notwithstanding she shall be saved by childbearing,"

As to Eve being more guilty of the transgression because she was deceived and Adam wasn't (i.e. in the previous verse, 1st Tim 2:14) would it make more sense that Adam was more in the transgression since he wasn't deceived and therefore was rebellious? That kinda invalidates the Pauline editor's argument against women preaching.

If someone wants to argue that "Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety" means women who aren't righteous die in childbearing and women who are don't, let them argue a clearly false premise. I've never heard of a whore dying in childbirth. Only of good women so dying. Again, the Pauline editor shows he isn't up to the task of apostleship.

OR does "Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety" mean that a woman can only be saved if her children continue in faith?

Note the switch the Pauline editor makes from she to they -- she will be saved if they.

So now if your children don't all live as faithful Christians ladies, you have to burn in hell for all eternity!

So, what is this, for women salvation is by faith only + making sure their children are all faithful?

Sounds like Paul must be accursed for teaching a different gospel than his own self!
